A.F. Henley Spotlight!

Be it unrequited fascination with his straight best friend or impossible fantasies of rekindled interest with his heartbreaking ex, Mason has no clue why the perfect connection seems to keep slipping through his fingers. When another lonely holiday seems like too much weight to shoulder, Mason gives up on romance and seeks out the next best thing—rented company. Jack is everything a person could want in an escort: willing, hot, and built like an angel.

Mason can't resist. After all, who wouldn't be interested in a guy who loves kid's movies, is a self-professed Peter Pan, and has no problem throwing caution to the wind at a moment's notice. But then interest quickly blooms into a whole new emotion—an emotion that Mason knows far too well, especially when Jack has no interest in returning it, preferring to keep his heart safely tucked away in Neverland.

I have only read 1 other book by this author in the past, and I did completely enjoy it.  So when the chance came along to read this one, of course I took it.
Right off the bat, I enjoyed how it was something that is completely different than what I have been reading recently.  I liked the way that Mason and Jack met, and how their relationship continued throughout the story.  One thing that I enjoy from this author is that even though the couple does have sexual relations in the book, that’s not what the story is about.
There was enough happening throughout it all, that it was interesting to watch how they react to each other. Mason’s character, I felt so bad to him because I could tell how lonely he was, and how he was wishing for something that he knew he couldn’t have. With Jack though, even though I did like him to a degree, other times I just wanted to smack him upside the head; especially when he was being such a jerk to Mason.
My only real complaint with the story would be the ending. I don’t really see how Mason could jump from one thing to another so drastic. But besides that, I did enjoy the book and I will be sure to read more from the author in the future!

Welcome to the new visitors of the tour, and hello again to my returning friends. As I've been explaining throughout, Second Star to the Right is a romance story about a man seeking to define himself, an escort caught between the desire to find connection yet keep himself grounded, and how the brilliance of love can be the brightest light in dark skies if we're willing to let it burn.

So... in an effort to attempt something a little different for this blog tour, I decided it might be cool to connect with you, the reader, and explain how I define myself. I sent out a call, asking "Inquiring Minds" to throw some questions at me, and offered to do my best to answer them. Let's light up the sky together, and hopefully have a little fun in the process...

(Be sure to read through to the end for details on the release, as well as a chance to WIN your very own ebook copy.)

Darkprism asks:                You are allowed to be a mythical creature for a year. What would you be and what would you do with your time?

Henley replies:                  Pan. And not just because it sounds like it relates to the post, either. How can you not love something that has the hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, is recognized as the god of fields, groves, and wooded glens, and is strongly connected to fertility and spring? Throw in the fact that the ancient Greeks also considered Pan to be the god of theatrical criticism and I'd say Pan and I would work quite well together.

As for what I'd do? Probably spend a lot of time teaching shy young shepherds how to play the pipe, as per the picture to the right. I try to be as helpful as I possibly can, you see.

Christopher D asks:         What's your favorite position?

Henley replies:                  Defense, Chris. I'm not nearly aggressive enough to play forward, and goal tending just bores the hell out of me.

That is what you meant, right?

quandrant90 asks:           What type of musics, films, TV shows do you like? What do you do when you're not writing awesome stories, researching or watching porn (*cough* I'm sure the porn is purely for research *cough*)? I've not asked too many questions have I? <---that's an actual question as well :P?

Henley replies:                  I like everything from Disney animation to romantic comedy to horror. My biggest movie turn-ons are V is for Vendetta, The Boondock Saints, Fight Club, Constantine, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. However, I'm not a big TV show person. As a matter of fact, I haven't watched a television set since December, 2008. I'll occasionally hit up a season of something on Netflix, but for the most part I prefer a movie.

Wait... I'm supposed to do something other than write, research, and watch porn? Does laundry count?

No. You haven't. Ask away. J

Drawboy7 asks:                Do you actually have an evil grin spread across your face when you decide that one of your characters should have curly hair?

Henley replies:                 Yes. I have literally made character's straight hair curly just for you. I know how strongly you love to draw curls, and I'd hate to disappoint. *evil grin*

About the Author:
Henley was born with a full-blown passion for run-on sentences, a zealous indulgence in all words descriptive, and the endearing tendency to overuse punctuation. Since the early years Henley has been an enthusiastic writer, from the first few I-love-my-dog stories to the current leap into erotica.

A self-professed Google genius, Henley lives for the hours spent digging through the Internet for ‘research purposes’ which, more often than not, lead seven thousand miles away from first intentions but bring Henley to new discoveries and ideas that, once seeded, tend to flourish.

Henley has been proudly working with LT3 since 2012, and has been writing like mad ever since—an indentured servant to the belief that romance and true love can mend the most broken soul. Even when presented in prose.

  2. Not aggressive enough to play Forward, you've been quite forward with us before. xD

But in all seriousness, if I can find what I did with my serious stick, lovely review. Of course now I know the ending.

  5. Henley secretly has a very large evil streak, as evidenced by this post. Henley also fakes innocence very well....

    1. I'm actually not quite sure it's much of a secret. ;)

And it's "the appearance of gentleman cordiality" as opposed to faking innocence. My innocence is long gone. *grins*

Thank you for the comment, Ashley. Best of luck with the giveaway. :D
